Susan Snyder Young, LCSW
Susan strives to collaborate with her clients on a treatment roadmap that best suits their needs - her approach relies on behavioral principles to help grow new habits of the mind. Susan is a New York Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Dialectical Behavior Therapy Linehan Board of Certification certified clinician (DBT-LBC ™).
Susan pairs her warm and validating demeanor with teaching new strategies to help clients effectively cope with difficult emotions, relationship stress and unhelpful thoughts.
Since 2018, Susan has served as the Director of Program and Staff Development at Brooklyn Heights Behavioral Associates (BHBA), wherein she has helped clinicians learn & disseminate Evidence-Based treatments. She has provided supervision to clinical social workers and clinical psychologists.
Susan has also acted as a practicum supervisor for Columbia University’s School of Social Work through the Dialectical Behavior Therapy lab under director Dr. Andre Ivanoff, PhD. Her other areas of expertise include Exposure and Response Prevention (ExRP) and DBT-Prolonged Exposure (DBT-PE). Susan believes in the power of empirically supported treatments such as Radically Open DBT and has success in delivering Dr. Tom Lynch's innovative treatment for disorders of over-controlled behavior.
She received her graduate degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Susan tailors treatment to the individual, incorporating a mind & body approach.
